WiMAX on the Move Continues in COMPUTEX!
2009-06-02
WiMAX has become the main theme of COMPUTEX TAIPEI since 2008. This year, we take WiMAX on the Move as our slogan. Taiwan's WiMAX industry will take the ICT industry to new heights. Hence, there are several main events in WiMAX Taipei 2009 as follows: 1. WiMAX Taipei 2009 Last year, 2008 WiMAX Taipei Expo successfully combined with COMPUTEX TAIPEI and attracted more than 30,000 overseas and domestic visitors from 116 countries, showing the strength of Taiwan's WiMAX technology to the world. This year, WiMAX -is the new theme of COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009, and visitors can see numerous WiMAX devices at over 700 booths. The theme of the event in 2009 is WiMAX on the Move. It presents three features, Innovation, Leap, and Launch. All the latest innovative WiMAX products such as WiMAX-embedded Notebooks and Netbooks, the smallest and lightest WiMAX MIDs, the unique WiMAX TV dongle, and other WiMAX-related products are in WiMAX Taipei 2009. Thus it is divided into four areas, which are the WiMAX Applications Area, the WiMAX Components, the WiMAX System Products Area, and the WiMAX Testing Area. Many globally recognized exhibitors include Intel Microelectronics Asia Ltd., Taiwan Branch, Rohde & Schwarz Taiwan Ltd., Tektronix Inc., GCT Semiconductor, Inc., Acer Incorporated, Gemtek Technology Co., Ltd., Microelectronics Technology Inc., and Accton Wireless Broadband Corporation. 2009 is the year Taiwan's operators launch commercial WiMAX services. These include VMAX, Vee Telecom, TATUNG InfoComm, and Global Mobile, and they will be demonstrating their diverse WiMAX application services to the public for the first time. Another feature of the show is the M-Taiwan Pavilion, showing the limitless ways WiMAX technology can be used. These include different government services and other roles. Through the WiMAX CPE, visitors can experience on-site security monitoring services such as emergency aid, traffic safety surveillance, and customs declaration management. The M-Taiwan Pavilion is led by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and organized by National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior, Industrial Technology Research Institute, Institute for Information Industry, and Kaohsiung County Government. In addition, this year Intel is going to showcase the amazing connectivity of different mobile devices. Two Mobile Travelers holding MIDs will roam around TWTC Hall 1, and transmit real-time video via webcam to Intel's booths both in Hall 1 and the Nangang Exhibition Hall. Highlights from Intel include WiMAX-embedded Notebooks and Netbooks. All these devices come with built-in Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5050 series modules that can let you have unprecedented Internet surfing through WiMAX. 2. The unique global and state-of-the-art WiMAX Taipei Metro In 2008, President Ma Ying-jeou took a ride on the WiMAX Demo bus and was amazed by the technology clarity. This year, we showcase its high-speed transmission capabilities on the Taipei Metro. Taipei's Metro Muzha line will offer WiMAX-enabled tours from June 2~6 and provide WiMAX accessible equipment supported by Taiwanese WiMAX ecosystem companies. These include Acer, AWB, MSI, PTS, Tecom, VMAX Telecom and ZyXEL. Travelers can now experience how widely WiMAX applications are used in their daily lives. They will be able to enjoy real-time images from the Taipei Zoo featuring their star animals, all made possible through WiMAX. 3. WiMAX Inaugural Service Launch After facing fierce potential competition, Taiwan's Tatung Infocomm held their WiMAX service launch on the island county of Penghu on April 27, 2009. An additional five operators will unveil their WiMAX services in the near future. It signifies the comprehensive efforts of the M-Taiwan Project. Therefore, the WiMAX Inaugural Service Launch will be staged during WiMAX Taipei 2009 and formally announce to the world that Taiwan is looking ahead to the new era of WiMAX. Through these events, Taiwan presents WiMAX-related business opportunities and provides a complete ecosystem for all your WiMAX needs. For more details please visit http://wimaxtaipei.tw/.
